Help me raise funds for the Ironman Foundation as my Ironman entry.
All donations, big or small, are greatly appreciated.
The race is on March 28th in Oceanside, CA!
Back in early 2025 a friend of mine (Rayo) completed the Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon in San Francisco. While I only started running a couple years ago, during the conversation he mentioned that I should train and complete a race with him in the future. Around September, I (stupidly) mentioned that the Oceanside half Ironman (70.3 miles) was in March and that I would have enough time to train for that event. What started as an idea quickly manifested into me purchasing a bike (+ cycling shoes and a helmet) and swim gear (jammers, googles + an LA Fitness membership).
As the months went by, I trained hard and completed race distances for each discipline which gave me the confidence to commit to Rayo that we would race in March. Rayo confirmed that he registered for the race and booked a flight to come down. I on the other hand, delayed registering, as the $600 general entry fee is non-refundable and I assumed I could register closer to the race (in case I injured myself or something else happened). Reasonable you'd think... dumb.
A few months went by....
Being that I have never competed in an Ironman before, I didn't know that Ironman events sell out or that the Oceanside 70.3 Ironman in particular is one of the more popular events. Being 4 months into training and excited to do something challenging, I was devastated when I went to register for the race only to find it sold out.
Being me, I immediately emailed the race organizers (no dice) and did some research which led me to the Ironman Foundation special entry. In short, this special entry path guarantees me a part in the race if I commit to fundraising $1,900 for the Ironman Foundation, a non-profit organization that focuses on creating change through charitable work and contributions in our race communities.
I think everything happens for a reason... and in this scenario, consider the opportunity to raise funds for charity as part of my race journey as meant to be.
The Oceanside Ironman 70.3 is a popular half-distance triathlon (70.3 miles total) in Oceanside, California, featuring a 1.2-mile swim in the Pacific, a challenging 56-mile bike course mostly through Camp Pendleton, and a 13.1-mile run along the coast, known for its iconic pier finish line and vibrant atmosphere, kicking off the North American season for many athletes.
You can donate directly to the fundraiser using the page link below.
I will add any contributions to the fundraiser on your behalf and name you as the donor. *Please include "Ironman" in the comment.
I am committed to raising these funds and racing. Meaning I am personally responsible for covering the difference between funds raised and the required donation minimum of $1,900.
To everyone that donates, thank you! You're helping me chase my dreams and helping fund valuable community charity efforts.
